my point is that we were taught to beware of so much, that finding a catholic pendant opened the door for me to wonder and to perhaps hear something that was never there. the mind is a powerful thing.

has anyone ever possessed something that you'd swear had a demon attached to it? we've all been told to watch out for things purchased at flea markets, garage sales.... but did something slip through the cracks and into your home? my story goes like this: i live in a historic community my next door neighbor found a small grave in her backyard. thoughts were it was a child or baby. months later i found a catholic pendant when we rototilled the backyard. it was really neat and i meant to take it to a jeweler to see what it was worth. while it was in the house, every so often i thought i heard a baby cry. no neighbors with babies and noone babysitting babies. one day it kept going on and on so i thought it must be possessed so i brought it back outside. no more crying. i left it on the patio table and a storm washed it through the cracks of the patio boards into the dirt beneath. weird huh?

Raised a JW... did you have a childhood?
by ignorance is strength inpersonally i was quite serious at a young age.. there was no "boys will be boys" growing up.
personally i feel kind of cheated out of a childhood by an organization that forced you to think that "everything around you was going to be gone soon so you better grow up, start publishing, and giving talks.
" did any of you experience a less than stellar childhood, especially because of the lack of holidays and socially-isolating religion gowing up?

i noticed a difference growing up. but, it never pained me. i knew i was different, but, i hung out with all the other "different" ones. so it didn't affect me a great deal. now, i wish some things were different but accept that that was the way it was. carpe diem now.

a joke from my jw dad!
by free will ina brother gives his first public talk, but only takes 15 minutes to give the talk.
the elders talk about counseling him, but after some consideration, decide to give him a break since it was his first talk.
the next public talk he gives, he talks for exactly one full hour!!

Now the elders say, perhaps we should really counsel him, but after giving it some consideration, they reason, that well, he was only 15 minutes over, so we'll cut him some slack. The next talk he gives, he goes for TWO hours!!! This time the elders go up to him right away, take him into the library and really prepare to counsel him good. "We want to know what is wrong with you, don't you know a public talk takes 45 minutes?" the elders asked him. His reply: "Well yes, you see the first talk I gave, I had problems with my dentures, they really pained me, so after 15 minutes, that was all I could take, and I ended my talk!" The elders said, "well that's understandable, but what about a whole hour?" "Well during the second talk, my dentures were feeling really good, so I just kept talking and I lost track of the time. I'm really sorry about that" The elders said, "well OK, but then why in the world did you talk today for over 2 HOURS?" "Today when I got up, I couldn't find my dentures..........so I used my wife's!"

Ah, What a tangled web we weave...
by NaruNaruChan in...when first we practice to decieve.. the semester just started again for me, and i'm using my computer lab access to write this, because i feel like venting.
... and so i will vent.
so i worked with my jw ex best friend (mind you, i said jw ex best friend, not ex jw best friend) and she and i were blissfully ignoring eachother (at least i was blissfully ignoring her) when all of a sudden she starts talking to me again... which, to my surprise, was shocking.

i agree with elsewhere. you may feel that she drew you into something that ultimately wasn't for you. but, just maybe, she thought there was something wrong with her faith at the time, and theocratically thought jw activities would fix it. all in all, if she truly feels this way, she was as much a victim as you. its the circle of jw life. we are all a part of it.
